2010 Tournaments
The Midwest Gaming Classic will be host to a number of tournaments at the show. Competition is a major part of electronic gaming and the Midwest Gaming Classic wants to find the best in the Midwest and throughout the world! The following tournaments will take place at the show:
- Midwest Pinball Championship Series
With different divisions of play and special series for women and children, if you think you're a pinball wizard this is just what you're looking for! - Modern Classic Series
This series celebrates new game that are already classics! How do you stack up?

Old games can be some of the best to compete on. This series of tournaments tests your skill on popular games that have held up through time!

Midwest Pinball Championship Series
No matter if you are a pinball wizard or just want to have fun competing, the Midwest Gaming Classic has a pinball tournament for you! Check out the tournaments below to see what you can compete in at the show!

Midwest Pinball Championship
Qualifying: Sat, 10am-10pm; Sun, 10am-1pm - Finals: Sun @ 1pm
Come prove that you are the best pinball player in the Midwest and win a pinball machine and cash prizes! The Midwest Pinball Championship is endorsed by the International Flipper Pinball Association (IFPA) and World Pinball Player Rankings (WPPR). This year, there will be three divisions of play in the tournaments. For a full listing of prizes and rules, please see the link below.
The following games will be used for the Midwest Pinball Championship:
- 60s Game - Will not be announced
- 70s Game - Night Rider (1977, Bally)
- 80s Game - Nine Ball (1980, Stern)
- 90s Game - Demolition Man (1994, Williams)
- 00s Game - Big Buck Hunter (2009, Stern)

Prizes for the tournament are as follows:
The winner of the A division receives $600 cash and a trophy, runner up receives $300, third place wins $225 and fourth place wins $150. All qualifiers which do not finish in the final four will receive $100. All A division places receive a trophy!
The winner of B division receives $150, the runner up receives $75, third place wins $50 and fourth place wins $25. B division qualifiers which do not finish in the final four will receive $10 and a certificate. The top four B division players will also receive a trophy.
The winner of C division receives $30 in tournament cash and a trophy. the runner up receives $20 in tournament cash and a certificate, third place wins $10 in tournament cash and a certificate and fourth place wins $5 in tournament cash and a certificate.
Cost for A and B divisions in this tournament is $5.00 per entry. Three entries may be purchased for the price of $10.00. Players may play as many entries as they wish. Cost for entry into the C division is $2.00, however players may only play one entry in this division, and it must be their first pinball tournament entry played.
Pinball Junior Championship
Qualifying: Sat, 10am-6pm - Finals: Sat @ 6:30pm
If you are 12 or under and want to participate in a pinball tournament, the Midwest Gaming Classic will have just what you're looking for! Play in a pinball game to see who can get the best score to qualify! After qualifying, four finalists will compete in an elimination-style tournament just like the full tournament!
The first 50 entrants receive a participation ribbon, and the winner receives a trophy and $20 in show cash to spend at any booth they wish!
Cost for this tournament is $2.00 per entry.
Women's Pinball Championship
Qualifying: Sat, 10am-6pm - Finals: Sat @ 7:15pm
Women at the Midwest Gaming Classic will have a chance to play pinball against only other women! Qualifying will take place throughout the day on Saturday, with the top four women facing off in an elimination-style tournament to decide the winner! New this year, the Women's Pinball Championship will be played on one of the Midwest Pinball Championship games, allowing women's entries to count for both the regular tournament and the women's tournament!
The winner of the women's tournament receives a trophy and 1/2 of all entries in show cash, with a minimum guarantee of $20 in show cash to spend at any booth they wish!
Cost for this tournament is $4.00 per entry.
Modern Classic Series
It doesn't matter that these games aren't old, they are already classics! Compete against some of the best players around to win some very unique prizes. We'll be announcing these modern tournaments in the upcoming weeks, so keep stopping back!

Fire Mario Speed Run

Think you can make it through level 1-1 of Super Mario Bros and end with Fire Power faster than anyone else? Ties will be broken with coins, followed by score, so everything matters in this test of classic retro speed!
The winner of the Fire Mario Speed Run will receive the following prizes:

- 2010 Fire Mario Speed Run Championship Trophy
- Donkey Kong Jenga game

StarFox Competition Cart Competition

Want to try your hand at the version of StarFox Nintendo made just for people to compete on? Then you won't want to miss this awesome StarFox Competition Cart Competition, where you play a very special 5:00 game of StarFox with different level progression and scoring than the final release!
The winner of the StarFox Competition Cart Competition will receive the following prizes:

Raiden Raiders Tournament
Open Competition: Sat, 10am-6pm - Winner Announced Sat, 6pm
Think you can play a mean game of one of the most classic 2D "shmups" of all time? Prove it in the Raiden Raiders tournament by getting the high score on level 1 only, while trying to keep as many of your ships around as possible to get a 10,000 point bonus for each extra life at the end of the level! Sound easy? It won't be!
The winner of the Raiden Raiders tournament will receive the following prizes:
- Title of 2010 Raiden Raider Champion
- 2010 Raiden Raider Championship Trophy
- Playstation 1 Console
- 10 Original Playstation games, including a copy of Raiden Project.

Midwest Tetris Championship
Qualifying: Sat, 7:30pm-10pm, Sun, 10am-2:30pm - Finals Sun @ 2:30pm
Think you are good at Tetris? Then take on the best players from around the Midwest to determine exactly how good your skill is in this featured retro classic tournament!!
The winner of the 2nd Annual Midwest Tetris Championship will receive the following prizes:

- 2010 Midwest Tetris Championship Trophy

Both the 2nd and 3rd runners up will also receive prizes TBA.

Frantic Frogger Competition

Think you are good at Frogger for the Atari 2600? How good? Good enough to score the most points possible in only two minutes and thirty seconds? If so, you will want to give Frantic Frogger a try!

Team Space Invaders Tournament
Open Competition: Sun, 10am-4pm - Winners Announced Sun @ 4pm
Team up with a friend or a family member under the age of 12 in our two divisions of Team Space Invaders competition! One player shoots, while the other player controls the left / right movement of the ship. You will need to work together if you want to win this tournament!
There are two divisions of play in the Team Space Invaders Tournament. Open Division is open to any team of two people. Family division must have at least one family member under the age of 12 playing as part of the team.
The winners of the Team Space Invaders Tournament - Open Division will receive the following prizes:
- Title of 2010 Team Space Invaders Champion
- 2010 Team Space Invaders Championship Trophy (one for each player)
- Two Space Invaders themed ice trays
- Two Space Invaders Strategy Guides

The winners of the Team Space Invaders Tournament - Family Division will receive the following prizes:
- Title of 2010 Family Space Invaders Champion
- 2010 Family Space Invaders Championship Trophy (one for the family)
- Atari 2600 Console with Hookups and two Joysticks
- Space Invaders Game Cartridge

Hybrid Pinball / Video Tournaments
One of the signature attractions of the Midwest Gaming Classic, hybrid tournaments pit players against one another between two different mediums for electronic gaming! If you think your skills work across all types of electronic gaming, you'll want to prove it in these tournaments!
Pac-Mania Competition
Open Competition: Sun, 10am-4pm - Winner Announced Sun @ 4pm
The ultimate Midwest Gaming Classic combo, a pinball tournament collides with a video game tournament and the result is pure fun! Play a timed game of Mr and Ms Pac-Man Pinball, and a timed game of a Pac-Man arcade game, combine the two of them and see how good you do in this signature Midwest Gaming Classic tournament!
The winner of the Pac-Mania Competition will receive the following prizes:
- Title of 2010 Pac-Mania Champion
- 2010 Pac-Mania Championship Trophy
- Pac-Man Oven Mitt
- Prize TBA
- 1/2 of all tournament entry money, with a $25 minimum
