Midwest Classic 2002

June 8 - PieperPower Center - Milwaukee, Wisconsin

The 2002 Midwest Classic was held in the same location as Atari Jaguar Festival 2001 was, and the event broadened the focus to everything under the sun. While this year wasn't big in the way of the number of vendors or sponsors that attended, it boasted some unique developments for the over 100 guests who attended to enjoy. Two new Atari 2600 games were debuted for sale specifically for the show, and a group brought their Dreamcasts and work that they had been doing on those systems that, just one year later, would lead to the first independent release for that console.

Highlights

Some of the Midwest Classic 2002 highlights were:

  • The event expanded to include all types of electronic gaming, and welcomed its first pinball machine -- A Williams Space Station -- which was only a hint of things to come in the future
  • Two new 2600 games -- Mr Roboto and Warring Worms -- were released with special 'Midwest Classic' editions
  • Attendees visited a greatly expanded museum area, as a second 'curator' joined the first to be able to cover all systems. This partnership in the museum area lasts to this day.
