Clock Chaos

Clock Chaos
Clock Chaos is the signature warm up event for the Midwest Gaming Classic! This year, it’s back to it’s original format! Clock Chaos has been created to provide pros and new players alike an awesome pinball tournament to participate in for a few hours on Friday night. Sign up for a slot and then appear at your selected time. You’ll be tasked with playing a single game on a number of pinball machines and then, at 11pm when all players are done, players scores will be compared and the top 12 qualifiers will return to replay ONE game. The number of games involved in Clock Chaos will not be revealed until the start of the tournament to ensure all tournament equipment is ready for the tournament, however at least one EM, one solid state pre DMD and one DMD era machine will be present in a line up of at least five machines! Sign up begins on February 25th at noon!

Hatris World Championship

Hatris World Championship
Think you hat what it takes to be the best Hatris player in the world! Join us for the second annual Hatris World Championship at the Midwest Gaming Classic! Anyone is free to play this double elimination style tournament. Stop by before the tournament starts to sign up. THE RULES: Games will be played in Shop 0 / Stage 6. This is the first stage in the game with access to all six types of hats. Two players will play through this single stage, whichever player earns the higher score in the single stage will win the game. Matches will be a best 2-out-of-3 game contest to advance in the tournament. Cashing in helpers at the end of the stage will not be allowed. This will free up helpers to be used during gameplay without penalty on a player’s score. Use them or lose them. At the conclusion of the stage, leave your screen on the cash-in message until the conclusion of the match. As with Classic Tetris matches, the announcers and/or judge will relay the score info to the player who has not finished their stage. Players must wear a hat on their head during gameplay. Get as silly as you want without blocking your vision. Use common sense and don’t break Twitch ToS with your choice of headwear.

For every 8 players, we’re providing TWO boxes of Magic Draft Boosters! Players get 3 Draft Boosters for the Draft, and each group of 8 will get 40 packs for prize support! Special thanks to Slypatch Gaming for hosting this event! Games will be played using the standard Magic Draft format, with three game rounds, and three rounds of play. We’re at the physical location where Magic: The Gathering was first unveiled, so it only makes sense to use some of the most powerful cards in the history of Magic for a Legacy tournament! Up to 10 proxies are allowed per deck. Winners will split a guaranteed $400 in Legacy staples, with more prizes being added depending on how many players participate! Please note: Your deck may consist of up to 20% proxies.

Bring your Commander deck and face off against others to see who will be legendary! The top four players will receive a pre-con Commander Deck, with the top player receiving $50 in credit for Slypatch Games! Decks may contain up to 20% proxy cards (including Magic: 30th Anniversary cards!) Tournament timing may change depending on the amount of players.

Mega Game Championship

Mega Game Championship
The MEGA GAME CHAMPIONSHIP is coming to the Wisconsin Center April 1 with over $2000 in prizes on the line courtesy of Cream City Music! Complete three diverse game challenges in Space Invaders (2600), Legend of Zelda (NES) and NBA Jam (SNES) as a timer counts up to see how long it takes! The top six gamers return for a finals hosted by Phil Moore where they have to go head to head for the fastest times on single game challenges. The winner gets $500 and a guitar from Cream City Music! Here’s exactly how it’s going to work: There will be two Mega Game Challenge qualifying areas in Roman’s Qualifying Coliseum. When the judge is ready and all three games are confirmed to be in their ‘ready’ state, the player will press a big green button to start their timer. At this point, they must pick up and complete the following three challenges in any order:- Space Invaders (2600) – Player must score at least 150 points
- Legend of Zelda (NES) – Player must defeat at least one screen of baddies
- NBA Jam (SNES) – Player must score at least 5 points

MGC Cosplay Championship

Come see one of the most fun Cosplay contests around on Saturday night at 7pm at the MGC Main Stage! With prizes for the best male, female, and group costumes, this is a fun event to watch or participate in! Entry for main categories is free. Want to be a contestant? This year, we’re pre-judging the entrants to help ensure the smooth operation of our tournament! Stop by our Cosplay HQ on the second floor during the day to register (11am-2pm or 3pm-6pm). Then return at 6:45pm near the Main Stage to be ready for the finals!

Our yearly tournament returns! 80 players face off in two separate qualifying sessions, with the top 12 from each session moving on to the finals to determine who is the best pinball player at the MGC!
Pre-registration opens on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 12:00 PM (NOON) on the MGC website. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email from MGC and another email from Rachel a few days later with additional information.
- Open tournament limited to 80 players.
- 40 Player limit for each qualifying session, top 12 of each session make finals.
- Each player can only play in one of the qualifying sessions, not both.
PLEASE PURCHASE YOUR MGC TICKET ONLINE PRIOR TO THE EVENT, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE IN THE 9:00 AM GROUP.

This is the Classic Tetris World Championship Midwest Regional! Competitors will play NES Tetris A-Type and try to get the highest score possible. Qualifying takes place Saturday 11:00am – 5:00pm and Sunday 10:00am – 12:00pm. After the qualifying round, players with the top 12 scores* will advance to the Top 12 round on Sunday. Golf… with pinball machines? It’s a fun way to play! Each game has a goal, and you get one “stroke” for each ball you play on your way to get that goal. You may have to play two games to score high enough, or you may get it on your first ball! You will get to pick which half of the field you are going to play on, so choose wisely! As always, play as many times as you want, as long as time allows! All entries must be COMPLETED by 11:30 pm. In the case of a tie for first, those players will move to a single ball play-off at that time, with the winner placing top! Top 4 winners receive a trophy!

Bring your best trained Amiibo figures to our 7th annual MIDWEST AMIIBO CHAMPIONSHIP! Watch as Amiibo controlled CPUS duke it out for the right to be crowned champion! Figures must be formatted for SUPER SMASH BROS ULTIMATE. Figures from Smash Wii U won’t work. Rounds will be 2 minutes with 3 stock. The tournament will be single elimination. Amiibos trained with spirits are welcome, but no special powers please (i.e. giant, metal, etc)! Sign up begins 30 minutes prior to the start time.

Tournament Details
- 2000 point armies
- 3 rounds on day 1, check-in is 830am, start time is 930am
- 2 rounds on day 2 (same as day 1)
- Armies must be “Battle Ready” to get the 10 in-game points.
- Battle Ready models have their main areas colored and a simple finish on their bases.
- Additional fee for tournament entry.
Prizes are paid out in cash based on attendance. To ensure you can start playing on time, pre-order your weekend MGC ticket.
