“Trickman” Terry Minnich started his 10-year position as an Editor for Sendai Publishing Group’s Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM) magazine in 1991. Along with creating Fact Files, he managed the Tricks of the Trade which was the secret codes section (also where the famous Sheng Long April Fools’ joke appeared) in many publications such as EGM, EGM2, Super Nintendo Buyer’s Guide, Mega Play, Expert Gamer and many more. In 2007, he founded the company, Retroids LLC, alongside former EGM colleagues, Ken Williams and Paul Ojeda. Its main property was the website VGEvo, which stood for Video Game Evolution, and housed a podcast network which consisted of PlayStation Nation and Interactive Distractions among others. In 2016, he opened Pixel Blast Arcade—a brick-and-mortar venue with arcade games, air hockey, pinball and more, co-owned with Paul Ojeda. The arcade was one of the unfortunate victims of the pandemic and closed in December of 2020. Terry has contributed to several visual compendiums from Bitmap Books, as well as Jeff Lee’s “Q*bert and We” autobiography. He’s also made appearances in the documentaries, Man Vs. Snake: The Long and Twisted Tale of Nibbler, and the upcoming Ghostlord and the Quest for Dark Presence.
